January 22, 2026

Rest and adventure must be balanced with responsibility towards nature and the law.

Key Rules and Fines:

  • Garbage disposal: According to Federal Law No. 12 of 2018, burying or burning garbage outside designated places entails a fine of up to 30,000 dirhams for individuals and up to 1 million dirhams for companies.
  • Environmental protection: Federal Law No. 24 of 1999 prohibits cutting down trees or disturbing wild animals. Violations are punishable by imprisonment (3–6 months) and fines from 10,000 to 20,000 dirhams.
  • Tent placement: In Sharjah and Fujairah, fines of up to 2,000 dirhams apply for setting up tents in unauthorized places.
  • Weather safety: New Decree No. 14 of 2024 provides fines of 2,000 dirhams, 23 penalty points, and car confiscation for 60 days for entering valleys during rain. Being near dams during heavy rain costs 1,000 dirhams and 6 points.

Winter season in the UAE is an excellent time for recreation, provided that nature is protected and safety rules are followed.
